MEMORANDUMS OF UNDERSTANDING

Over the course of 2021, CCSA also entered into five Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Banking Innovation Through Technology (BITT), Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency , Central American Institute of Public Administration , Convergence and Source Global PBC

“These MOUs lay the framework for much needed innovation in the region,” said Kiesha Farnum of CCSA. “Through these MOUs, the region stands to benefit from the development of, for example, financial ecosystems to support climate-focused entrepreneurs, human resource development and modernisation of the public sector with a focus on climate resilience and climate education, and project management and technical infrastructure support for the development of renewable energy projects and other critical initiatives that can help the Caribbean build forward.”

CCSA: OFFICIAL NOMINATOR FOR THE EARTHSHOT PRIZE

As a testament to the work that CCSA is doing in the regional climate space, in December 2021 we were invited to be an official nominator for the Earthshot Prize. The Earthshot Prize, led by Prince William, is the most prestigious global environment prize in history, incentivising worldwide change with a decade of action to repair our planet.

The nominators of the Earthshot Prize have been selected for their ability to identify the most impactful solutions to the five Earthshot challenges across all countries and sectors, and from grassroots to businesses.

As an official nominator, CCSA joins an exclusive network of selected global organisations committed to environmental action who all share the ambition of the Prize to repair the planet and provide solutions to the world’s greatest environmental problems by 2030. We will make further announcements on the nomination process and criteria in January.

HITTING THE GROUND RUNNING IN 2022

“We look forward to the new year and to working with all stakeholders in the climate space to advance the region’s resiliency build out,” said CCSA’s Cheryl Senhouse. “We can do it together through collaboration, action and accountability.”

CEO Racquel Moses added: “The new year will also see a more laser focused approach by CCSA in engaging the public and private sectors to evaluate and accelerate climate-focused projects. We will also be pursuing initiatives that bring innovation to the region. One example of this is a recent meeting we held with Hello Tractor and exploring how we can expand this level of agricultural innovation to the region to the benefit of all.”

CCSA will also increase engagement with coalition countries to better understand how we can support the implementation of their national adaptation plans to accelerate projects requiring development, continue the planning process for our COP27 programme and identify the key objectives we want to achieve in the lead up to COP, transforming our website into a knowledge hub where stakeholders can access a broad range of climate-related information such as impact tracking and reports, project assessments and training courses.

We will also continue to work with our partners, collaborators and donors to fast track the various climate-smart projects we currently have under development. To learn more about all of the initiatives we have been involved in this year, visit our website.

OUR DONORS MAKE IT POSSIBLE

The work being done by CCSA would not be possible without the generous support from our donors. Their support is deeply appreciated and is helping the region to build forward while stimulating innovation and economic activity, and promoting employment and sustainability.
