SUMMARY:Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit 2022
DESCRIPTION:Climate Action in Shipping: Progress towards Shipping’s 2030 Breakthrough\n\nShipping\, powered by fossil fuels\, transports around 90% of global trade and accounts for 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Under business-as-usual\, emissions may increase by 130% by 2050 compared to 2008 levels. To align with the 1.5C temperature goal of the Paris Agreement\, and achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050\, scalable zero emission fuels should make up 5% of international shipping fuels by 2030. Progress towards Shipping’s 2030 Breakthrough report assesses progress to a goal of having scalable zero emission fuels make up 5% of international shipping fuels by 2030. In this livestream\, lead authors\, Katharine Palmer\, Shipping Lead – Climate Champions Team and Dr Domagoj Baresic\, Research Associate – UMAS\, will present findings from the report. \n
