DESCRIPTION:The Webinar on The Role of Non-Party Stakeholders (NPS) in Shaping NDCs 3.0 will bring together key stakeholders from across the Caribbean and beyond to discuss the vital contributions of civil society organizations\, private sector\, financial institutions\, subnational governments\, and regional institutions in shaping and implementing the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). \nThis event\, organized through a partnership with the UNFCCC RCC Caribbean\, NDC Partnership\, UNDP\, and UNEP\, and supported by the UNFCCC Communications and Engagement Division\, will explore the role of NPSs in driving the success of the NDCs 3.0. With countries required to submit new and more ambitious NDCs by 2025\, this webinar will highlight how local and regional NPSs can strengthen climate action by sharing experiences\, cooperating in climate action formulation\, and catalyzing initiatives to boost adaptation and mitigation efforts. \nKey focus areas of the webinar include: \n\nEngagement of NPSs in NDC Implementation: Discussing the specific role of NPSs in scaling up climate action and strengthening implementation across the Caribbean and other regions.\nScaling NDC Implementation: Focusing on addressing the climate finance gap and exploring pathways for enhancing the investability of NDCs\, including through project preparation\, pipeline development\, and financial instruments.\nSupporting Climate Action through Partnerships: Examining how governments\, financial institutions\, and international partners can better support NPSs in their efforts to implement impactful climate solutions.\n\nThe Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA) will participate in the panel discussion\, sharing its experiences supporting Caribbean nations with NDC implementation. During this session\, CCSA will showcase the Climate Smart Map\, demonstrating how data-driven insights can support climate adaptation\, risk assessment\, and investment decision-making.

DESCRIPTION:IRAC 2020/21 Task Force and Scorecard\nThe 2020/21 IRAC Task Force was charged with the development of the Resilience Scorecard. \nThe Task Force interdisciplinary Task Force of stakeholders from all sectors of the Caribbean volunteered their time and resources to build and design the Scorecard for the last year and half. \nThis diverse cross-section of experts comprise of representatives from The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA)\, FortisTCI\, Gearing Up Limited\, Utility Regulation and Competition Office (OfReg)\, Coastal\, The Government of Bermuda\, Rocky Mountain Institute\, The Barbados National Oil Company\, Caribbean Development Bank\, Dominica Electricity Services Ltd\, WRB Energy\, The University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus)\, The Environmental Defense Fund\, Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency\, The Barbados Fair Trading Commission\, Advanced Energy Group\, Allovance and student volunteers. \nThe Scorecard is unique in that it is not based on traditional measures of GDP used by the international financial community\, but rather measures countries against their individual priorities\, and the standards and goals they have set for themselves\, many aligned targets of the United Nations Development SDGs. \nTherefore Scorecard will provide a pathway for allow countries to: \n\nEffectively allocate scarce resources\,\nLink strategy to budgeting\,\nPrioritize resilience projects and resources\,\nCreate strategic and capital plans\,\nMeasure the impact of philanthropy and investment projects.\n\nSpeakers: \n\nH.G. The Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator (CCSA) is a key strategic partner for IRAC. \nIRAC has become a critical and dynamic avenue for problem-solving and collaboration focused on building the resilience of the region by bringing together island policymakers\, utilities\, regulators\, financiers\, developers\, and manufacturers as a strategic think-tank. The goals of IRAC are to build consensus around hurdles in the Caribbean and identify regional resiliency challenges and actionable solutions indigenous to the region that can be accomplished within 12 month sprints.

DESCRIPTION:The Ramphal Institute is getting ready to launch its Work Program on Climate Finance and the Commonwealth and their inaugural webinar scheduled for Thursday 21 April at 1730 London (BST). This event will feature panelists from Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) and the Commonwealth Secretariat and Racquel Moses\, UNFCCC Global Ambassador; Chief Executive Officer\, Caribbean Climate-Smart Accelerator. \n\n\n\nThis event examines the challenges Commonwealth countries face with accessing climate finance to address their adaption and resilience needs\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\nThe importance of climate finance for climate adaptation and resilience\, continues to grow. Yet\, despite the billions promised by developed countries and investors\, developing countries\, including Commonwealth developing countries and small island states\, face persisting challenges with accessing climate finance to address their climate needs. This webinar examines the challenges Commonwealth countries face with accessing climate finance and looks at the options available to them for overcoming this.
