Boosting Climate Resilience: Preparing and De-risking Renewable Energy Projects in the Caribbean

  •  Fri, December 1
  •  1:00-2:00 p.m. GST (GMT+4)
  •  In-person
  •  CARICOM Pavilion, COP28 Blue Zone, Dubai, UAE

Join us at COP 28 for a pivotal event featuring our esteemed CEO, Racquel Moses, as a distinguished speaker. While the Caribbean boasts numerous groundbreaking renewable energy projects, the momentum of the transition varies across the region. Many nations find themselves in the demonstration phase, hindered by the need for substantial support during the early stages of project development, preparation, and de-risking to attain bankability and propel large-scale deployment.

In particular, Small Island Developing States (SIDS) face financial constraints in adequately preparing projects, including conducting feasibility studies, environmental impact assessments, and site preparations to ensure they are “investor ready.” The event, hosted by RMI, assembles a diverse audience including Caribbean government representatives, energy leaders, investors, and finance experts at COP 28. Together, they will explore strategies to mobilize climate capital and catalyze a transformative energy transition in the Caribbean. This gathering serves as a blueprint for other countries and regions in the Global South.

The focus of the discussion will center on pragmatic solutions to overcome barriers in project preparation, ultimately increasing the number of projects poised for investment and setting a benchmark for sustainable development. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of the conversation that aims to drive tangible progress in the clean energy landscape.
